21 A large amount of S7 communication causes network instability

The real-time databases INSQL and PDA of a certain project both collect data from more than 10 PLCs. Due to the large amount of data collected from each PLC, the PLC network load is heavy, occasionally affecting the stability of the network and seriously affecting production, as shown in the following figure.

Renovation plan 1 is that only INSQL directly collects data from PLC, and the S7 data packets of PLC and INSQL are forwarded to PDA through a small switch. PDA parses the data from these forwarded S7 data packets. This plan has almost no impact on INSQL, but the total S7 data packets of PLC are almost reduced by half, and the number of connections is also reduced by half, as shown in the following figure.

Renovation plan 2: Adopt UDP communication protocol for all, which is simple and efficient. The data is collected by PDA and provides external interfaces.
